I have examined the accompanying Ordinance, entitled

Bankruploy Gidurance, 1891,

and I am of opinion that the Ordinance is one which is not contury to

the Governor's Instructions.

The system of carrying on business under a firm name is almost universal among the Chinese, including those in Hongkong. The peculiarity, however, is that the name selected is often a"fancy" one, in so far that it gives no indication whatever of the names of any of the partners. Among these may frequently be found one or more Chinamen not domiciled in this Colony who, although partners in the Hongkong firm, never come to Hongkong but reside it Canton,
